EnSIGN - Film Nights - ANU Medical School Global Health Group, ANU Medical Students ANUMSS MedSoc

PROJECT:

FILM NIGHTS

EnSIGN Film Nights are all about engaging and educating students on global health issues, and offering students a chance to discuss different issues. Film is a great medium to do this. Rather than simply have discussion nights, film nights offer a fun and relaxed approach to discussions. The EnSIGN film nights were kicked off in 2009, and began with the screening of "The Rescue", a documentary film about child soldiers in Uganda, and how we as young medical students and future junior doctors are involved in this issue and can take responsibility and action. The night was a success and attracted many students, not only from the medical school, but across faculties. The night involved the film screening, interactive discussion and of course, food. All participants could truly say that they walked away informed with new knowledge and new perspectives on a global health issue that is very real and alive today.
